Artwork description: This is a self-portrait. The background is selected from works I created since I was five, printed or redrawn on newspaper. I then adjusted the colors and lighting, fitting with the charcoal portrait. It demonstrates how my present self is enriched by the layers of creation. This work embodies my inner interpretation of the theme “Who am I?” Firstly, art has been an integral part of my life since the dawn of my self-awareness, growing alongside me. All the works precisely demonstrate my artistic growth. This rich creativity and imagination constitute an indispensable part of who I am today. Secondly, this piece, more importantly, symbolizes a part of my life-—my evolving personal growth. Among the many paintings in the background, you will notice numerous portraits. These are self-portraits I began creating in childhood. Through painting, I constantly examine myself, examine what kind of person I am, and record my thoughts and feelings with my paintbrush.
