Artwork description: This is a portrait of myself consumed by remorse that festers in the barren hollow of my heart. The color purple and magenta represents the deep hollowness inside me, and the blend of many different colors displays the intrusive thoughts that invaded me in that short moment. I used my hands, especially the red highlighted the finger joints and elbow, as a medium to deliver my emotions-sharp, fragile, and filled with self-hatred. The gesture of covering my face demonstrates hiding and not revealing all the parts of me that are trying to do better. The broken pottery cup is inspired by the calla lily, which symbolizes purity and beauty. It emphasizes that my self-love and inner beauty have been shattered, replaced with void and self-reproach. Also, the coffee leaking from the cup shows my emotion bowl has been broken and the time flows, but I am staying still staring nothing.
